Saturday, August 4, is "G-fest" time. Chris Grenda of Mr. G has put together a diverse line-up of bands for this show, which begins at 11 AM at Brick's VFW hall. The show's line-up is Mr. G, Brown, Red Engine Nine, Venus Butterfly, and MadJul, Slowdrown and Majestic 12.

The purpose of the event, now in its third year, is to show the music business that bands can self promote and to send a message to local promoters. Grenda is upset with the way bands are treated and said promoters have sometimes cut sets short for bands that don't sell enough tickets.

"There's tons of musicians out there," said Grenda. "It's very, very difficult to make people go out there and see you again. If you kick ass you deserve to play in front of people." Grenda has put aside making a profit so he can provide things like 40-foot stage to play on. A profit is possible, but he is just looking to break even. He is more interested in a comfortable atmosphere for the bands and audience.

Tickets are $10. The show is open to all ages, but you must be 21 to drink. Show specials are $2 domestic beers, $2.50 hard drinks and $1 Papa John's pizza slices.
